Alex Sole-Leris

Alex’s path into the film industry hasn’t been a straight line. He began his career as a barber, developing a strong eye for detail and precision before discovering a passion for the camera during the pandemic. This unexpected shift led him to study Film Production, graduating with First Class Honours in Cambridge and a deep love for cinematography.

During and after university, Alex shot a wide range of projects as a Director of Photography, including short films, music videos and commercial work for clients such as Shakespeare’s Globe and British Cinematographer magazine. Alongside this, he gained experience across every role within the camera department, finding as much fulfilment in assisting others as he does shooting his own work.

Alex is also a graduate of the National Film and Television School, where he completed the intensive Camera Assistant diploma. Training at one of the world’s leading film schools allowed him to further refine his skills while gaining hands-on experience working with 16mm and 35mm as both a loader and focus puller.

Whether on large-scale productions or independent projects, Alex thrives in collaborative environments and is driven by a genuine love for both storytelling and the technology behind it. He is always keen to learn, adapt and develop, with a constant focus on becoming the most reliable assistant possible. Focused, engaged and adaptable, Alex brings a strong work ethic to every project and aims to be a valuable asset to any team.
