The Next Generation of Camera Talent
At Orchard Crew, nurturing talent isn’t just a side project, it’s the heart of what we do. We know that the future of the UK film industry depends on fresh perspectives, sharp eyes, and a relentless work ethic.
That’s why today, we are incredibly proud to officially announce our Access 2025: Camera Trainee cohort.
Building on the foundations laid by our sister company, Digital Orchard Group, and their successful Access 2024 scheme, we saw a unique opportunity to create a dedicated pathway specifically for those passionate about the camera department.
Meet the Class of 2025
After a rigorous selection process, we’ve assembled a group of seven outstanding individuals who represent the drive and diversity we want to see on set. Please join us in welcoming:
- Michael Scanlon
- Beth Lamyman
- Phoebe David
- Alex Sole-Leris
- Nic Sian
- Thomas Foster
- Kim Holmes
More Than Just a Title
This isn’t a sit back and learn program. Our Access 2025 trainees are diving straight into the deep end. Over the coming year, they will receive:
Hands-on training: Mastering the essentials of camera prep and the complex logistics that keep a department running.
Industry Placement: Opportunities to gain real-world experience on set and in rental houses with our partners at Digital Orchard, MCX, and One Stop Films.
Dedicated Mentorship: Learning from the best in the business. As 2nd AC and mentor Falco Caldeira put it: “I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for the people that mentored me, so I am really excited to give back.”
Already Making Waves
We aren't just waiting for the official start date to get to work. One of our trainees, Nic Sian, has already hit the ground running on a recent commercial production.
Working alongside DOP Chaimaa Ormazebal and our very own 1st AC Luke De Borde, Nic proved exactly why they belong in this cohort. Chaimaa noted that Nic was “on top of everything, always ready to help... and brought such good energy to set.” That energy is exactly what the Access scheme is all about.
Looking Ahead
For our trainees, this year is about more than just technical skills. It’s about building the connections and the confidence to become a ‘valuable and reliable asset to any production,’ as trainee Michael Scanlon aims to do.
For us at the Diary Service, it’s about passing on the torch. We can’t wait to see where this year takes you all.
Welcome to the Crew!
